Thursday November 3, 2022

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali military court executed two al-Shabab men in Mogadishu on Thursday after they were convicted of committing multiple murders in the capital.

Omar Adan Mohamed and Abdulle Ahmed Mumin, both active members of the group, killed two government soldiers in Mogadishu in 2019 before being apprehended and prosecuted.

According to the court, the two men joined al Shabab in 2014 and 2018, respectively and were sentenced to death in December 2020.

Two years later, the two men were executed in Mogadishu, bringing the total number of people executed by the court to nearly ten in the last three weeks.

On Tuesday, the court executed Abdullahi Ali Adan in Galkacyo after being found guilty of belonging to the militant group al-Shabab. He was accused of being responsible for a 2018 attack in Galkacyo that left 15 people dead, including the prominent cleric Sheikh Abdiweli Elmi Afyare.
