Assistant
Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ambassador Mona Omar, in
statements to MENA 9/3/2013, said that Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel
Amr is heading to the Kenyan capital Nairobi on the way to his one-day
visit to Somalia accompanied by a high profile diplomatic delegation.
The Somalia visit is the first of its kind by an Egyptian official at the ministerial level for more than 20 years, she said.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud
will receive the Egyptian Foreign Minister who will hold official talks
with his Somali counterpart, she said, adding that the Egyptian top
diplomat will hold meetings with the Somali Defense Minister and
Parliament Speaker.
The visit represents Egypt's support to
the currently first-elected Somali government and is expected to promote
cooperation between the two countries and increase the Egyptian aid to
Somalia especially in the field of training new Somali cadres to help
build the new Somali State, she noted.
