Wednesday, July 26, 2023 (HOL) - The Federal Government of Somalia's forces have recaptured Goofgaduud Buureey, which is part of the regions surrounding the city of Baydhabo, the capital of Baay province.
The Al-Shabaab group had taken control of the Goofgaduud Buureey area, approximately 30 KM away from Baydhabo, following a fierce battle last Sunday.
This region is among the strategic areas that defend the city of Baydhabo, which is the interim capital of the South West State of Somalia administration.
The Al-Shabaab forces that were stationed in this area reportedly retreated from there, after hearing that the Somali national forces were preparing an attack on the Goofgaduud Buureey area. The government forces peacefully takeover the control of Goofgaduud Buureey.
Al-Shabaab has many fierce attacks on this area in the past. However, this is not the first time they have taken control of the Goofgaduud Buureey area in Baay province, which has finally fallen back into the hands of the federal government forces.
