Inter-clan conflict kills nearly ten people in central Somalia

    Dhusamareb (HOL) - Reports are emerging of fierce fighting in the Landheere area on Saturday, situated between Herale and Aabudwaq in the Galgaduud region. The clashes have resulted in eight deaths and over ten injuries.

    The conflict began after morning prayers and involved two clan militias from Aabudwaq and Herale. The militias are reportedly using both light and heavy weaponry.

    Traditional elders from both sides are attempting to halt the violence, but no resolution has been reached so far.

    Despite the escalating conflict, the Galmudug administration has not yet stated the ongoing clashes.

    Clan conflicts occur regularly in Galmudug-administered areas, causing significant losses. An official solution to prevent these recurring conflicts has yet to be found.

    The inter-clan fighting comes just hours after at least 16 al-Shabab militants were killed in a foiled terror attack on a Somali military base in the El-Dher district of the Galgadud region. The attack began with explosions followed by direct gunfire between the militants and the army forces.
