Hargeisa (HOL) - In a resolute display of solidarity, the President of Somaliland and the presidential candidate of the Waddani party convened at the presidential palace to call upon the nation to unite and extend support to the military forces in the aftermath of a disheartening defeat in the Las Anod conflict.
President Muse Bihi Abdi, addressing the nation, asserted that the armed forces of Somaliland retain the unwavering strength they possessed prior to the recent setback. He reassured the citizens that the military would effectively counter the attack they encountered just a day earlier.
"Our message to the people of Somaliland is clear: our forces remain steadfast as ever. In the face of challenges, their resilience, determination, and unwavering love for the nation stand undiminished. With divine providence, we shall swiftly surmount these obstacles and thwart the designs of those who seek to harm our beloved land," President Bihi affirmed.
Against the backdrop of intense clashes that unfolded between the Somaliland military and the SCC-Khatumo forces in Las Anod, several Somaliland soldiers, including the commander of the 12th Battalion stationed in the Maragga region east of Las Anod, were apprehended by the SCC-Khatumo forces.
In response, the President announced the formation of a committee, comprising ministers and parliament members from Somaliland. This committee has been entrusted with a thorough investigation into the lapses that led to the setback suffered by Somaliland forces in the recent battle.
During the press conference, Abdirahman Mohamed Aabdillahi Irro, the presidential candidate of the Waddani party, stood alongside the President and reinforced their commitment to defending the sovereignty of Somaliland.
"I want to unequivocally state that the Waddani party, as represented by myself, stands firmly united with all national pursuits and the safeguarding of our cherished homeland," Irro emphasized.
As Somaliland grapples with this critical juncture, the united call for unity and resilience from its highest leadership serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit of a nation that remains steadfast in the face of challenges.
