Kismayo (HOL) - Several people were injured Friday morning following an IED blast in the house of a youth leader in Kismayo.
Sources in the coastal city said that the Lower Juba Youth Council chairperson, Ahmed Takhal, and his son were injured in the blast.
Both are expected to recover.
The blast went off at about 4 am local time, sources said, noting the incident happened after Takhal returned from the morning prayers.
It is suspected the improvised explosive device was planted in the youth leader's house as he went out for prayers.
Several other occupants were injured after the house collapsed as a result of the explosion.
No group has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
