Somali forces arrest Al-Shabaab IED expert

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali forces have arrested Al-Shabaab militant in Mogadishu following covert operations.

In a Twitter post, Somali spy agency said the forces acting on intelligence report raided the house of the militant.

According to the post, the soldiers managed to arrest the unnamed suspect.

The operative whose identity has not been released was said involved in the deadly bombing campaign in Mogadishu.

“Following intelligence report shared with the forces, an hours-long operation was conducted in Mogadishu, the suspect is believed to fit IEDs onto vehicles (IED expert),” the Twitter post reads in part.

The move comes as Somali forces backed AMISOM troops have intensified operations against Al-Shabaab fighters in Somalia.

In the last two weeks, Somali military recaptured two villages from militants.
