Al Shabab militants in Somalia have beheaded a man after he was found of guilty of possessing ‘Khat’ the green narcotic leaf planted in Kenya, a traditional leader in the Bay region told HOL on Saturday.The elder said that the incident took place in an area which is about 13 kilometres from Baidoa along the road to Mogadishu.
The Khat was being exported to the town of Buurhakaba when the militants intercepted and executed the owner while the Khat was set fire on Friday.
“It is very shocking experience and I am condemning it in my strongest terms” the traditional elder Malaq Ibdiyow told HOL by telephone from Baidoa.
Earlier the militants banned chewing and trading of Khat in areas under their control and announced hard punishment for anyone caught possessing it.
