The man flew from Frankfurt airport, onboard a Condor Air aircraft and landed Kenya through the Moi International Airport.
Kenya was tipped off by German authorities who received a letter written by Bottcher to his mother which said he is going to Somalia and would not return alive.

The German foreign ministry confirmed on Tuesday that a Geman man had been held by Kenya but declined no further details. The Berlin based newspaper Der Tagesspiegel published that the man entered Kenya on September 22 but police had arrested him after a nationwide search for him.
Kenyan officials said a suspect had been detained at an entertainment place in Mtwapa, northeast of Mombasa.
"He was in police custody since his arrest on Saturday," said Mwanza Katee, district commissioner for Kilifi, where the suspect was arrested, according to Reuters.
Kenya anti-terrorism police unit made arrangements for his immediate deportation. The man was handed over to Interpol on Monday morning and back to Germany.
