Captain(Civil Aviation) Ahmed Haji Elmi Gure, a humble giant with contagious optimism and peacefulness, was the founder and Managing Director of Hiiraan Online (HOL), a legacy that will outlive him and benefit all Somalis. For the last quarter-century, HOL has provided truthful and reliable news from home and a round the world to Somalis. He was not only my mentor but also my boss as I am a contributor and sometimes a guest editor to Hiiraan Online. Ahmed rendered vital service to 20 million Somalis around the globe for over 25 years, all free of charge. He was a man who never compromised his integrity for monetary gain or power exchange; he was just-custodian of free and fair press. We mourn the loss of this exemplary leader who led by example. May the Almighty shower His mercy on him and reward him with the highest place in Paradise. Amin.

Rest in peace, Ahmed Haji Elmi Gure. Your legacy will continue to inspire and serve the Somali community for generations to come.
