New York (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met
with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad
Al-Sabah, on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United
Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the
long-standing ties between their nations and exchanged views on the latest
regional and international developments.
President Mohamud underscored Somalia’s ongoing recovery
efforts, stressing that strategic partnerships with countries like Kuwait are
essential for sustainable growth and stability. The Crown Prince praised
Somalia’s resilience and reaffirmed Kuwait’s readiness to support initiatives
that deepen bilateral cooperation.
Talks also explored new areas of collaboration, particularly
in investment, trade, and development programs, while aligning both countries’
vision for peace and security in the region.
The meeting was attended by other Kuwaiti officials,
including Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the
Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA).
The meeting in New York builds on previous high-level
meetings, including discussions on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Summit in
Doha. Kuwait has long been a key partner for Somalia, providing humanitarian
assistance and support for infrastructure and education projects.
