Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali National Army (SNA) Commander Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Rageh on Saturday held talks with Gen. Abdirahman Mohamed Tuuryare, Somalia’s Representative to the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) and former NISA Director, at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Mogadishu.

The two senior officials discussed strengthening the role of the Somali National Army in international counter-terrorism cooperation and enhancing collaboration with global partners to ensure stability in Somalia and the wider region.

Gen. Tuuryare briefed the Army Chief on IMCTC’s operations, highlighting its efforts in countering extremist ideology and disrupting terrorist financing networks.

Somalia has been actively engaged in international counter-terrorism cooperation in recent years, as foreign jihadists continue to travel to the country to join Al-Shabaab and ISIS militants fighting Somali and peacekeeping forces.

The Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF), working alongside international partners, have killed and captured dozens of foreign fighters linked to the extremist groups during operations in Puntland and central and southern Somalia.
