Former Somali Attorney General Abdullahi Dahir Bare passes away in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (HOL) - Former Somali Attorney General Abdullahi Dahir Bare passed away in Mogadishu on Wednesday night, the Office of the Attorney General of the Federal Republic of Somalia has confirmed.

The current Attorney General, Hon. Sulayman Mohamed, along with officials and staff of the office, extended their condolences to the family, relatives, and the Somali public.

The late Abdullahi Dahir Bare was born in 1940 in Luuq District, Gedo Region. He was among the first generation of Somali judges, joining the nation’s judiciary on April 17, 1967.

A long-serving public servant, he held several key judicial and legal positions throughout his career across various administrations, including chairman of the Beledweyne District Court, chairman of the Hargeisa District Court, chairman of the Togdheer Regional Court, and chairman of the Benadir Regional Court.

The former Attorney General played a vital role in rehabilitating the country’s justice and judiciary systems, serving the Somali people with dedication since the early civilian government era in 1967.

Attorney General Sulayman Mohamed prayed for the late Abdullahi Dahir Bare to be granted mercy and a place in Paradise, and for his family and loved ones to be granted patience and faith.
