Mogadishu (HOL) – Somalia’s Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi attended the Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) in Kampala, Uganda, from January 9–11, 2025.
The Somali government delegation, which included Permanent Secretary Hamza Haadow and Somalia’s Ambassador to Uganda, Fardosa Mohamed Kanyare, engaged in high-level discussions on the Ten-Year CAADP Strategy and Action Plan (2026–2035) and the Kampala CAADP Declaration. The discussions focused on the future of agricultural transformation and food security across the continent.
Somalia’s representatives reaffirmed its commitment to revitalizing its agricultural sector, enhancing food security, and strengthening regional cooperation to tackle shared challenges.
Ambassador Fiqi highlighted the critical role of agriculture in Somalia’s economic recovery and emphasized the need for inclusive and sustainable policies to address food insecurity and support rural livelihoods.
The summit concluded with the endorsement of the Ten-Year CAADP Strategy and Action Plan by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government. Somalia’s participation at the summit underscores its dedication to increasing regional collaboration and leveraging agriculture as a catalyst for economic growth and stability.
