Jowhar (HOL) — Hirshabelle state leader Ali Abdullahi Hussein Guudlaawe on Sunday officially opened the National Education Consultation Conference in Jowhar, the state’s interim administrative capital.

The forum, organized by the Federal Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Learning, brings together representatives from federal member states and the Banadir Regional Administration to discuss education policy and reforms.

Minister of Education Faarah Sheikh Abdulkadir said the conference is expected to produce key decisions shaping the future of education in Somalia.

“Such meetings will not only enhance cooperation between the federal government and regional governments but also encourage Somali students who expect more from their leaders,” Abdulkadir said.

President Guudlaawe emphasized the significance of Hirshabelle hosting the release of Somalia’s national secondary school examination results for the first time. He expressed hope that the conference would deliver outcomes that advance education nationwide.

This year’s examinations saw 37,052 students sit for the crucial test. Officials reported a national pass rate of 93.8%, with 34,742 students passing and 2,310 failing — a result described as a major milestone for a country rebuilding its education system after decades of conflict.
