An estimated 37,200 students will sit for the 12th-grade national examinations for the 2023-2024 academic year next Saturday. The Ministry has emphasized that substantial changes have been made to the examination process, including stricter regulations to ensure the integrity of the exams.

Somali security forces and local clan militias liberated these three districts in the Middle Shabelle and Galgadud regions in December 2022 and early 2023 during a major operation in the south and central regions.

The Minister of State for the Ministry of Education, Heritage, and Higher Education, Noura Mustaf Mukhtar, highlighted the government’s commitment to conducting examinations in districts recently liberated from al-Shabab. She added that this effort aims to provide educational opportunities to students who have lived under the terror group’s rule for years.
