Jowhar (HOL) - Hirshabelle Regional State leader Ali
Abdullahi Hussein Guudlawe held a meeting with the Minister of Security of
Hirshabelle, the governor of the Middle Shabelle region, the commissioner of
Jowhar district, and army forces in Jowhar on Saturday to discuss liberating the remaining
areas under al-Shabab control in Hirshabelle State.
Security officials briefed the President on the ongoing
security operations and military strategies aimed at eliminating al-Shabab
militants in the state.
"You must increase your efforts in ensuring security
and eliminating the Khawarij. I praise you because security is my number one
priority. I instruct the officers of the Armed Forces to perform their duties
seriously,” President Guudlawe said.
The Somali National Army, backed by local forces, liberated
several strategic areas in the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions last year
following a series of military operations. However, the offensive halted this
year after security forces suffered setbacks in the operations.
