Beledweyne (HOL) - The chief of the Hawadle community, Ugas Yusuf Ugas Hassan Ugas Khalif, was inaugurated as the 21st clan chief of the Hawadle clans on Monday in a colorful ceremony in the Hiiraan region.
Hundreds of people, including senior federal and regional leaders and traditional elders, attended the ceremony held in the Dara Ugas neighbourhood, located on the outskirts of the Halgan district.
Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo congratulated the clan chief, hoping that he would continue the traditional legacy of the 20 chiefs before him, which was central to Somalia's greatness, peacemaking, and maintaining the unity of the Somali people.
Somali army forces, alongside local militia forces, liberated the Dara Ugas neighbourhood where the event was held and other strategic areas in the Hiiraan region last year.
