Mogadishu (HOL)—Traditional elders from the Abgal clan have accused Hirshabelle State President Ali Gudlawe Hussein of failing to lead the administration and called for his immediate resignation.

In a statement issued after days of meetings in Mogadishu, the elders highlighted that the regional President has shown incompetence in addressing the challenges existing in the State.

They emphasized that despite Hirshabelle being the richest State in the country, it has become one of the worst areas in Somalia under the leadership of President Ali Gudlawe.

"President Ali Gudlawe must resign because he is part of the administration's challenges and, therefore, cannot be part of the solution. We will convene a conference that will bring together all the intellectuals, politicians, and academics of Hirshabelle to discuss the rebuilding of a new Hirshabelle. We call on President Hassan Sheikh to closely monitor the situation in Hirshabelle," stated the elders at the Abgal community meeting.

Since the formation of Hirshabelle State, there has been a power-sharing conflict between politicians from the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions. This conflict led to politicians from the Hiiraan region declaring a new state called Hiiraan State, which the federal government did not recognize.
