Mogadishu (HOL) - The Armed Forces Court sentenced a government soldier to death on Wednesday.
The court found an armed forces soldier guilty of premeditated murder, resulting in a death sentence. The soldier, Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud, also known as Tokiyo, deliberately killed Abdijabar Mohamed Hassan on August 12, 2022.
The murder occurred in a tea restaurant at the Tarabuunka intersection in the Hodan district of Mogadishu, where Hassan was fatally stabbed.
Mohamud, who fled after the murder, surrendered to the military on January 28, 2024, following an extended search. After an investigation, the Military Court's Prosecution Office requested the case's closure, which was granted on February 18, 2024.
After hearing the defence and prosecution arguments, the military court judge sentenced Mohamud to death by firing squad for Hassan's murder.
