Somali Foreign Minister criticizes al- Shabab's latest video as a cover for defeats

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Moalim Fiqi criticized the recent propaganda video released by al-Shabab, showcasing the training of militants in Somalia.

    Minister Fiqi wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the terrorist group produced the video to hide their weaknesses with a well-produced film, following several defeats on the frontlines.

    "I saw some members of the terrorist group making a propaganda video & exaggerating. It is evident that they are hiding their weakness with a well-produced film. On the other hand, it is our national forces who have turned Al-Shabab from real fighters into Hollywood actors," the Minister wrote.

    The al-Qaeda-affiliated group al-Shabab published a more than hour-long propaganda film on Tuesday, highlighting a "Special Force" that graduated from the group's "Training Academy of Sheikh Osama Bin Laden," as the video claims.

    The group translated the propaganda video into seven languages, including Somali, English, Arabic, Amharic, Oromo, Swahili, and French.
