Deadly clash near Hudur District: Somali forces attack Al-Shabaab militants.

    Garowe (HOL) — Somali government forces launched a heavy assault on Al-Shabaab militants early Wednesday morning on the outskirts of Hudur district in the Bakool region, inflicting significant casualties.

    The Somali National Army (SNA) troops targeted the Abagbeeday area, approximately 20 kilometres east of Hudur. According to a government statement, the 9th Battalion of the SNA conducted a planned operation that resulted in the elimination of high-ranking terrorist members. The troops also captured weapons, including BKM machine guns and AK-47 rifles.

    This morning's attack follows clashes in Lower Juba just a day earlier, where over 80 Al-Shabaab members were killed and several others were captured alive. The government has not disclosed the exact number of militant casualties from today's operation.

    The Abagbeeday area falls under the jurisdiction of Hudur, the capital of Bakool, where Somali National Army troops continue to combat Al-Shabaab's presence.
