IED explosion kills five al-Shabab militants in Middle Jubba region

    Mogadishu (HOL) - At least five al-Shabab militants were killed when their vehicle ran over a landmine between Gududey and Buka Ba'ad areas in the Middle Jubba region on Sunday.

    Reports indicate that the vehicle was also carrying IED explosives, and the car was completely burned.

    The group had previously buried the landmine on the road. This explosion comes as government forces have resumed heavy operations against al-Shabab in the Jubbaland region.

    In a separate operation, Somali armed forces, supported by local militia forces, recaptured Jamecada village near Burhakaba district in the Bay region on Saturday. The rural village, located approximately 25 kilometers from Burhakaba district, had been under al-Shabab's control for several years.
