Maadey Jeilani Ali, deputy chairman for social affairs of the Kuntuwaarey district, confirmed that ATMIS forces, specifically Ugandan troops, entered a farm in Buulo Mareer, encountered three individuals, and killed two of them. The third individual escaped despite being injured.

"After shooting the two individuals, the ATMIS troops slaughtered them. They were on patrol and became suspicious of these men, shot them, and then slaughtered them. There were three individuals; they killed two, and the third, who was injured, managed to escape. Two months ago, they similarly killed a farmer returning from his fields," said Maadeey Jeylaani Cali.

The killing has sent shockwaves through Buulo Mareer, whose residents have repeatedly experienced similar incidents involving ATMIS forces. Dozens of residents, mostly young men, have taken to the streets in protest, demanding justice and accountability. Authorities are expected to increase security along major thoroughfares and near government and security buildings.

There has been no statement from ATMIS command or the Federal Government of Somalia regarding the incident.

Residents of Buulo Mareer and the Lower Shabelle region are calling on the Federal Government and the South West State government to hold ATMIS accountable for their operations in the area, accusing the troops of repeatedly and deliberately killing civilian farmers.
