London (HOL) - Police in Cardiff have arrested a 38-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of Ibrahim Yassin, a beloved figure in the South Wales Islamic Centre. Yassin, 64, tragically lost his life on Sunday morning in an assault reported in Belmont Walk.
Yassin, also known as Fu'ad Hassan, was described as a pillar of the Butetown community, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Despite facing personal tragedy after the loss of his wife in 2008, he courageously raised their 11 children, including newborn twins.
Tributes poured in for Yassin, with his family releasing a statement describing him as a cherished father, deeply adored by his children. They highlighted his unwavering love and support through every challenge they faced together.
Yassin's impact extended beyond his family, with the community recognizing him as a generous and compassionate leader. Councillor Ali Ahmed, a close acquaintance, reflected on the shock felt by residents, describing Yassin as a kind and helpful individual dedicated to his faith and community.
