Mogadishu (HOL) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, Pier Mario Daccò Coppi, at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in economic development, social services, and security assistance in Somalia. President Mohamud expressed gratitude to Italy for its continued support and encouraged the Italian government to sustain projects improving the lives of the Somali people.
Ambassador Pier Mario Daccò reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to supporting Somalia and commended the Federal Government’s progress in development and rebuilding state institutions.
Italy has been a key partner in Somalia’s recovery efforts. In August 2024, the Italian government donated four Bell 412EPX helicopters valued at $16 million, marking the largest military delivery to Somalia since lifting the arms embargo.
