Mogadishu (HOL) – Security forces clashed with auto-rickshaw drivers protesting against a recent increase in license taxes in Mogadishu over the past two days.
The demonstrations took place along Maka Al-Mukarama Street, with protestors gathering in the KM4 area, a key route leading to Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ).
Despite the security forces firing live ammunition and driving vehicles into crowds, no casualties have been reported. Protesters erected roadblocks, causing significant disruptions to business and transportation.
The Banadir regional administration has yet to comment on the protests, while politicians are calling on the federal government to address the grievances raised by the demonstrators.
