Kigali, Rwanda (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, along with several other African leaders and delegates, attended Rwandan President Paul's inauguration ceremony on Sunday.

Kagame was sworn in for another five-year term at a packed 45,000-seat stadium in Kigali after securing a landslide victory in last month's election.

In his remarks, President Mohamud highlighted the strong relationship between Somalia and Rwanda. He praised Rwanda's remarkable recovery from the civil war and the leadership that has guided the country since the 1994 genocide.

President Mohamud expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of the traditional ties between the two nations.

Kagame, who has ruled Rwanda since the genocide, won the July 15 election with 99.18% of the vote, securing another term as president, according to the National Electoral Commission.

During his visit, President Mohamud also met with Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto. The two leaders discussed pressing regional challenges, including efforts to combat terrorism and explored further avenues for cooperation.

Both leaders reaffirmed the strong partnership between Somalia and Kenya, emphasizing their commitment to advancing regional peace, stability, and development through shared values and collaboration.
