Kismayo (HOL) — Two men convicted of murdering civilians were executed by firing squad in a public square in Kismayo, the capital of the Lower Juba region, on Monday, according to the Jubbaland military court.
The men, identified as Yasin Osman Colow and Dable Mohamed Abdullahi Said, had previously killed Muhiyedin Abdi Hassan and Mohamed Deeq Nuune Salah. The execution was attended by the victims' families, who expressed approval of the court's decision.
The Jubbaland military court has conducted several executions this year, targeting both Al-Shabaab members and government soldiers responsible for civilian deaths. These actions have been met with support from Kismaayo residents.
Jubbaland officials emphasized that the executions are part of broader efforts to enforce justice and deter criminal activity in the region.
