Baidoa (HOL) — The South West administration has successfully brokered peace between two feuding communities in the Dinsoor district of the Bay region, according to Interior Minister Abdullahi Haji Hassan. The resolution marks the end of a conflict that resulted in over ten deaths and displaced hundreds of families.

Following extensive negotiations, the two communities agreed to cease hostilities. "We've made significant progress by bringing together community leaders to formalize peace. Their agreement to shake hands was a symbolic gesture of their commitment to end the violence," Hassan noted.

In the wake of the agreement, the Somali government has deployed troops to ensure a separation between the community militias and maintain order. The security responsibilities for Dinsoor district have now been handed over to the national armed forces and the South West Dervishes.

Despite the peace agreement, Dinsoor town continues to experience a shutdown of business activities, highlighting the lingering impact of the conflict.
