Somali Civil Aviation Authority denies plane crash in southern Somalia

    Mogadishu (HOL) - The Somali Civil Aviation Authority has refuted claims of a plane crash near Merca town in the Lower Shabelle region on Wednesday.

    In a statement responding to reports circulating on social media, the agency stated, "There has been no aircraft accident within Somalia countrywide. All aircraft operating within Somalia's airports/airspace have safely reached their destinations, with no incidents reported in the past 24 hours."

    In July this year, an E-120 passenger plane on a domestic flight crash-landed at Mogadishu's international airport. Miraculously, all 30 passengers and four crew members survived.
