Saudi Arabia (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held two separate meetings with the Presidents of Eritrea and Iraq on the sidelines of the Saudi-Africa summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday.
President Mohamud and his Eritrean counterpart, Isaias Afwerki, discussed the situation in the region and the strengthening of relations between the two governments, as reported by the Somali government, without providing further details.
Eritrea-trained Somali troops are playing a crucial role in the ongoing military operations in central Somali regions.
The President also met with the President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, during which they discussed the exchange of experiences and skills related to the fight against terrorist groups, security cooperation, and shared interests between the people of the two countries, Somalia and Iraq.
