Somali forces apprehend foreign ISIS leaders in anti-terror operation in Puntland

    Garowe (HOL) - Puntland security forces apprehended foreign ISIS leaders during security operations in the Amamo area of the Balidhidin district in the Bari region on Monday.

    According to a press release from the Puntland Police Command, one of the arrested individuals has been identified as Mohamed Ibrahim Daha from Sudan. However, the identity of another individual, believed to be a Syrian national, has not been disclosed. The police have not provided further information regarding the total number of ISIS leaders arrested.

    Earlier in January 2023, Puntland security forces killed Abu Albara Al Amani, the head of Daesh operations, originally from the Amhara region of Ethiopia.

    Daesh/ISIS, known to be active in Somalia’s mountainous Bari region, has claimed responsibility for several attacks in the Horn of Africa nation.
