Baidoa (HOL) - Somali National Army (SNA), backed by local militia forces, conducted a security operation in the El-Dhun Agow area of the Bay region, killing more than 60 al-Shabaab militants on Thursday.
The Ministry of Information of South West State said the operation followed a recent anti-la Shabab operation in the South State area to flush out the militants.
Just the day before, on Wednesday, the federal government reported that the Somali army killed 25 al-Shabaab militants, including five foreign fighters, in an operation in the Wajid district of the Bakool region in southwest Somalia.
The group which is fighting to topple the government has been facing enormous pressure and an offensive from government forces backed by the local militia that seek to flush them out from the Hiran region of central Somalia.
