Tuesday, July 25, 2023 (HOL) - The Speaker of the Somali Parliament, Sheikh Adan Madobe, also the acting president of the country, has referred to yesterday's Al Shabab attack at the Jaalle Siyaad military base as unacceptable.
The Jaalle Siyaad military base was the scene of a devastating attack yesterday, where many soldiers were killed in a surprise attack that occurred inside the base.
The Speaker of the Somali Parliament stated that it is a responsibility failure for an attacker to infiltrate the military base, adding that he believes it was made too easy.
"I have no doubt that the Jaalle Siyaad College explosion was facilitated, and the Armed Forces Command is required to provide a clear response."
The Speaker has ordered security officials to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators, who facilitated the attack for the Shabaab group, to justice.
The president and prime minister have not yet commented on the incident in which many soldiers died. The exact number of casualties is not known to this date.
However, the reports we received suggest that more than 20 soldiers were killed in the attack.
