Somali military court sentences al-Shabab member to 15 years in prison

    Mogadishu (HOL) - A Somali military court has sentenced Yusuf Duqow Hussein Dhicisow to 15 years in prison for his membership in the extremist group al-Shabab Monday.

    The court revealed that Yusuf Duqow joined the group in Bur-Eylo village, located in the Bur-Hakaba district of the Bakol region.
    He received a monthly payment of $70 for his involvement.

    According to the court, his actions as part of al-Shabab included carrying out killings and bombings in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

    The arrest of Yusuf Duqow took place on May 14th of this year when security forces apprehended him while he was attempting to throw a grenade at the center of the second department in the Hodan district.

     Mohamed Abdi Mu'min, one of the military court judges, announced the sentence and granted a 30-day period for an appeal to be made.
