Mogadishu (HOL) - At least one government soldier was killed, and six others were injured in a clash between intelligence forces and the bodyguards of a federal lawmaker at Mogadishu's airport checkpoint on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the checkpoint leading to the Madina Gate after lawmaker Yusuf Kabale was reportedly refused passage by intelligence forces guarding Mogadishu's Adan Adde airport.
Following an argument between the two sides, a gunfight erupted, halting movement around the airport, but the situation later returned to normal.
The deceased soldier was identified as Arabey, but neither security officials nor the lawmaker commented on the incident.
Security forces at the Madina Gate checkpoint were recently ordered not to allow armed forces to pass through the checkpoint to tighten airport security.
