Beledweyne (HOL) - Hiiraan region Governor Ali Jeyte Osman opposed the firing of the Halgan district commissioner, which was made by Hirshabelle Minister of Internal Affairs Abdi Dahir Gure Karore.
Ali Jeyte said in a statement on Sunday that the administrational change of the district did not come from his office, which is in charge of the Hiiraan region.
"I am not aware of anything about it, and I have not made any proposal regarding the removal or appointments made by Hirshabelle Minister of Internal Affairs, Abdi Dahir Gure Karore," said a statement from Jeyte's office.
Jeyte added that he was preoccupied with the ongoing anti-al Shabab operations in the Hiiraan region, and there was no time to be busy with appointments and removals.
"The Hiiraan people are at war with the Khawarij group al-Shabab. We cannot engage in any change or appointment of officials. I am not aware of the minister's move," the governor's office stated.
Hirshabelle Minister of Internal Affairs Abdi Dahir Gure Karore has yet to respond to Governor Jeyte's comments.
