"The Garasbaley police station's army recently shot a conspirator from Khawarij al-Shabaab who wanted to kill a government soldier in the Tabelaha Sheikh Ibrahim neighbourhood."
The Banadir Regional Police Command added that the information about the conspirator was nabbed as a result of the excellent work done by the police and the local community."
The command has requested that the public assist the police in maintaining Mogadishu's capital security. "Citizens, please cooperate with the police and contact the short number 991 if you have a security message or complaint," the Banadir police said in a statement.
The incident occurred a day after two units of Somali government security services clashed at the main intersection near Sinai market, an open-air produce market in Mogadishu, on Saturday. At least two soldiers were seriously injured, and road closures occurred in the area.
