Somali military forces destroy al Shabab bases in Bakol region

    Baidoa (HOL) - Somali military forces destroyed al-Shabab army bases during military operations in the Wajid district of the Bakol region on Sunday.

    The operation occurred in the Dhurey area and other villages where group members had regrouped over the past few days.

    Wajid district commissioner Mohamed Moalim Yusuf and the commander of the 260th unit of the military forces, Onkod Moalim Adan, told state-owned media that the troops successfully pushed the militants out of the area. They also pledged that the army would launch a massive Bakool region operation soon.

    The commissioner emphasized that the local people are now prepared to participate in the southwest state's second operations phase against al-Shabab.
