Bosaso (HOL) - A prominent businessman from the Southwest region, Ibrahim Abdirahman Abdi, was fatally shot by an unidentified gunman shortly after leaving a mosque where he offered morning prayers in Bosaso on Monday morning. Ibrahim, the deputy chairman of the Southwest Community in the Bari region, was a victim of the latest in a series of targeted killings in the area.
This incident closely follows the killing of Khadar Abdi Ali, a young man linked to the Somali Regional State in eastern Ethiopia, who was shot in his home in Bosaso on Friday. The attack also left his son injured. The identity of the assailants in both cases remains unknown.
Security authorities in Puntland have not provided any details about these killings. These murders have heightened concerns, coinciding with a string of violent attacks on business centers in Bosaso.
Speaking in Garowe on Monday night, President Deni claimed that Puntland's security is strong. However, he did not directly address the recent spate of assassinations in Bosaso.
