Galkacyo (HOL) - A court in the Galkayo district of the Mudug region sentenced two men to death on Sunday for killing a young woman in the Mudug region earlier this year.
The victim, Nacimo Abdiweli Osman, only 16 years old, was killed by her husband, Liban Mohamed Yusuf, 22 years old, with the help of the second convicted man, Jama Mohamed Yusuf, 20.
The reason he killed his wife was reported to be her refusal
to reside with him, as she had sought a divorce.The appalling incident occurred in the Darussalam area of the Galdogob district in Mudug region, precisely on the midnight of April 18, 2023. The court determined that the victim was fatally attacked with a knife, and evidence implicated two individuals in the crime.
The judicial panel granted a one-month window for the defendants to pursue an appeal.
