Kismayo (HOL) - US-trained Somali Special Forces killed 47 al-Shabab militants in a new military operation in southern Somalia on Sunday.
The commander of the 5th unit of the Danab commandos, Arab Dheeg Ahmed, stated that the operation took place in the Yaq dabey area of the Lower Jubba region. During this operation, the Special Forces also obliterated the group's positions.
"The commando forces, particularly the 5th unit, carried out cleaning operations in the Lower Jubba region to flush out criminals hidden within the forest, thereby thwarting any plot against the Somali people," stated Commander Arab Dheeg Ahmed.
The operation comes as the Somali National Army SNA intensified their attacks against al-Shabab to liberate Galmudug and Hirshabelle States.
