Mogadishu (HOL) - Minister of Security Mohamed Sheikh Ali Doodishe, along with the Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jima’ale, presided over a meeting on accelerating the security measures in the capital and the ongoing operations against al-Shabab and drugs.
The conference was attended by notable figures, including the Commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Sulub Ahmed Firin; the Command of the National Security and Intelligence Agency; the Deputy Commissioner of Security and Politics of Banadir Region; the General Secretary of Banadir Region; the Commanders of the General Division of Police and other Security agencies of Banadir Region; Commanders of the Capital Stabilization Force of the Military Police, and district commissioners.
The discussions centred on expediting the implementation of previous directives by the government leaders, mainly focusing on controlling weapons, drugs and enhancing public awareness. There was also an emphasis on strengthening collaboration between the community and security agencies.
In recent weeks, security forces have been intensifying efforts to enhance the safety of the capital. A series of operations have been carried out in various neighbourhoods, contributing to increased stability in numerous districts.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre announced initiating the second phase of the anti-al Shabab operation in the country. He revealed that the operation against al-Shabaab in Galmudug and Hirshabelle States would conclude shortly, with the subsequent operation slated for Jubbaland and the South West regions.
