Hargeisa (HOL) - A prominent Yemeni businessman, Sami Al Haidari, and three of his family members lost their lives in a car accident on the road between Hargeisa and Berbera in Somaliland. Al Haidari, a well-respected figure in Hargeisa, his wife, a young child, and another female relative were killed in the crash.
Al Haidari was known for his thriving businesses and philanthropic endeavours in the region. His sudden death has left the community in shock and mourning.
The family was laid to rest in Hargeisa. Somaliland government officials attended the funeral and praised Al Haidari's character. "He was a man who was loved by all, and every time you met him, he displayed a kind face, brotherhood, and piety. I ask anyone who can hear my voice to support the family during this tragedy," said Sheikh Abdirisaq Hussein Albani, the Minister of Religion and Endowment of Somaliland.
Road accidents are a growing concern in Somaliland, particularly during the festive season when people embark on tourist trips. The number of accidents has been increasing annually, prompting the Somaliland government to warn its citizens to remain extra cautious as there are an unusually high number of vehicles on the roads.
