The meeting comes as Somalia launches the second phase of its Al-Shabaab offensive, which has seen Territorial gains, mostly in central Somalia since it began in Summer 2022.

Yugoimport SDPR offers a comprehensive range of military and defence equipment, including Infantry Weapons, Artillery and Mortar Systems, Armored Vehicles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Air Defense Systems, Naval Systems, ammunition, explosives, and military engineering equipment.

Somalia's Ambassador to Serbia, Mohamed Abdullahi Ahmed, accompanied Minister Dodishe during the meeting. The primary focus of the discussions was on strengthening and training Somalia's security personnel. Minister Dodishe expressed his intention to arrange a visit to Somalia for the Serbian security experts and Yugoimport SDPR representatives later this year, further solidifying the collaboration between the two nations.

The meeting also comes days after Somalia's Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre spoke with his Serbian counterpart to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
