Kismayo (HOL) - Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam inspected several recently liberated areas from Al Shabab in the Lower Jubba region on Monday.
Ahmed Madobe and military commanders visited villages, including Aw-Qumbale, El-adde, Anjel, and Janay Abadale, which the government forces liberated over the last few weeks.
While speaking to the military units, Madobe pledged that the offensive would continue until the group was removed from Jubbaland. He also urged the residents to collaborate with the army to achieve security.
Earlier this month, Al Shabaab attacked the government base in Janay Abdale, which is about 60 km (37 miles) to the west of the port city of Kismayu, with a car bomb and gunfire, killing several government forces.
However, the Jubbaland government said that regional and national forces had inflicted a "big blow" on Al Shabaab but did not provide any details.
