Mogadishu (HOL) - Reports from Ari Qaruf in the Balanbale district of Galgaduud indicate that armed militiamen allegedly killed five members of a single family on Friday. The assailants reportedly fled the scene immediately following the attack.
The deceased family members belonged to a herding community in Ari Qaruf. The official motive for their deaths remains unclear. However, local residents who spoke with the media suspect that the killings stemmed from clan disputes and are part of a series of similar incidents in the Galgaduud region. The Galmudug administration's security forces have not yet issued a statement regarding the event.
Coincidentally, the attack occurred on the same day the Galmudug region's Ministry of Internal Affairs, led by Hirsi Lugey in the Balanbale district, held a reconciliation meeting. The meeting, which took place on March 12, 2023, declared that those responsible for the killings would be pursued and apprehended.
