Somali Cabinet reappoints General Mahad as cheif of the Custodial Corps

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Cabinet has reappointed General Mahad Abdirahman as the Commander of the Custodial Corps on Monday, following the Council's weekly meeting in Mogadishu.

    General Mahad Abdirahman lost this position last year after being elected to the Lower House of the Parliament in Baidoa, the administrative capital of South West state.

    Since then, the head of the agency has been vacant, but General Mahad has retained his position. This means that General Mahad will have to forfeit his seat in the Federal Parliament of Somalia as the country's constitution does not allow a person to hold political office and army duty simultaneously.

    General Mahad had previously served as the Commander of the South West Police force before the former government of President Farmajo appointed him as the Commander of the Custodial Corps Chief.
