Al Shabaab warns clans not to accept weapons from government security forces

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Al-Shabaab has accused the Somali federal government of mobilizing Somali clans that were previously allied with Al-Shabaab.

    Speaking to their media affiliates, Al-Shabaab spokesman Abdulaziz Abu Musab stated that his group was not at war with these Somali clans but was aware that the federal government was arming them.

    He stated that clan elders and the government were coordinating the collaboration.

    The Al-Shabaab spokesman directly threatened clans that support the government by arming themselves.

    Al-Shabaab killed more than 20 people in the Hiiraan region on Saturday during an attack on an aid convoy. 

    The group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they targeted a local militia fighting alongside government forces to drive the Al Qaeda-linked insurgent group out of Hiiraan.
